Bartholomea annulata Curlycue Anemone
The Curlycue Anemone is one of the most common anemones used in aquariums today. They are usually tan or pinkish in color and have light or white corkscrw markings up each tentacle. Their thin bodies can extend down a crack or through the substrate, leaving their long tentacles to flow into the aquarium. Small Curlycue Anemones are sometimes mistaken for large Aiptasia nuisance anemones. These anemones do not have zooxanthallae and so do no rely on photosynthetic and lighting to produce their food. They can live in lower lighting than many other anemone varities, and tolerate varying water conditions. The stinging capability is not very severe with these anemones, but some fish will be affected by them if they swim too close. A small amount of flow is recommended so that they may feed from the water column, and hopefully remain stationary. Small bits of small meaty foods like brine or mysis may be fed on a weelky or biweekly basis. If all the conditions are right, they will live in your aquarium for many years.
