Pusiostoma mendicaria Bumblebee Snail
Bumblebee Snails are named for their black and yellow banded shells. They are omnivores, and will actively browse for detritus on rock and in substrate. However, when all other food sources are depleted they are also known to prey on other snails. Bumblebee Snails also eat polychaete worms, including the notorious nuisance Bristleworms but may also prey upon ornamental feather dusters. Their compact size and often brilliant color makes them ideal candidates for reef aquariums. You can read more about Bumblebee Snails as worm control on That Fish Blog by our staff marine biologists!
